What is Family Therapy?

Sometimes, our problems are best understood through how our families relate to one another.
It can be familial systems that require exploration in order to work out how it is affecting our life now
.

We can focus on the families we are in now, or our past relationships. We can explore both or even further back through the generations.

These explorations can sometimes help us understand why we do what we do, why we feel what we feel or think what we think. 

Sometimes, it can seem daunting to go back, or too painful to revisit the memories, but it is important to remember that, you, as the client is always in control of the therapeutic process. 

It might seem difficult to see how past experiences impact on the present. Giving you and/or your family the time and space to do this can be invaluable and can bring clarity, relief, calm, insight and understanding to what might have once seemed like murky waters.
